Hailsham Bonfire Celebrations – What you need to know

As the busiest night of the year for Hailsham approaches, a full timetable of events has been released by the town’s Bonfire Society.

There will be two processions taking place during the evening of Saturday 20th October, the first leaves Western Road at 7:30pm and will move down Station Road, Bell Banks Road, Market Street when it will arrive at the Memorial in the High Street at approximately 8pm for a short service.

The procession will then continue along the High Street, into Vicarage Lane, Vicarage Road and then George Street and back into Western Road.

A second procession will leave Western Road once again at 9pm, where members of the public can follow it to the fire site. The parade will move up George Street, High Street and finally down Vicarage Lane. Please see maps below.

To finish off the event, a firework display will take place from the Vicarage Lane site around 9:30-10pm.

Visitors are being urged to not park on the procession route and if using public transport, check local timetables and route changes prior to the event.

Bus services from the High Street will be using temporary stops in North Street, by the Tesco Superstore. Please check the Stagecoach Website for information.

Hailsham FM will be broadcasting a special live programme on 95.9FM throughout the evening, and reporters will be talking to attendees live at the event. You can keep up-to-date with the event on the Hailsham Bonfire Society’s Facebook page.

The charities and beneficiaries which will be collected for are East Sussex Wildflie Rescue and Ambulance Service (WRAS), 2nd Hailsham Scouts, The Charles Hunt Centre and ABC Group.
