More than a hundred people attended the funeral of an unknown woman this afternoon in Hailsham.
The funeral at the Hailsham Cemetery, was organised by Rother and Wealden District Councils, and was held to mark the life of a woman who was found dead in July 2017 at Birling Gap, and was not identified.
After almost of year of enquiries, her inquest was held on June 19, establishing she had suffered injuries consistent with a fall from a great height. The Coroner recorded an open verdict.
In the weeks which followed the discovery of her body, the usual checks including fingerprints, DNA and dental records were carried out, the woman remained unidentified.
