Contractors cut the grass at the Maurice Thornton playing fields yesterday (Thursday) and the cuttings were not collected, leaving the pitches impossible to play on. A number of games are planned for tomorrow (Saturday), but can’t go ahead until the fields are clear.
Resident John Bartley has been using his own lawnmower today to try and get on top of the situation, and other volunteers have been helping to collect the grass cuttings.
There’s now a call for more volunteers this afternoon/evening (Friday) to help out.
Any volunteers are being asked to visit the Maurice Thornton Playing Fields ASAP if they can spare some time.
