More than twenty five Hailsham residents gave up their Saturday morning to give the town’s Cricket Club a much needed helping hand last weekend.
The Hailsham Cricket Club pavilion at the Western Road Recreation Ground is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment so it can accommodate the growth of the club and include disabled facilities.
An appeal was put out by the club last week for volunteers to help move rubble into three skips supplied by local company Haulaway. The community of Hailsham didn’t disappoint with students from Hailsham Community College, cricket club players and local residents all turning up to help.
Rob Wilkinson, Director of Cricket told Hailsham News and Talk; “Today made me proud to be part of Hailsham Cricket Club and to be part of the Hailsham Community. People turned out in numbers even though the rain was relentless all morning.”
He added; “We filled three skips full of soil and wood and everyone worked so hard. Students from Hailsham Community College and residents from the town were so so helpful and allowed us to complete our to do list for the day.”
The club is appealing for more help this Saturday 1st December at 8:30am to carry out more work on the pavilion. Tea, coffee and biscuits is on offer to every helper.
