Do you know a community hero who needs recognising?

Do you know a hero in Hailsham? Someone who needs to be recognised for doing something outstanding in the community?

If so, then now is the time to put them forward to receive the 2019 Hailsham Hero Community Award being run by the town council.

The awards have been set up to give recognition to people in the town who have made a significant contribution to the advancement, wellbeing and welfare of the people of Hailsham in a voluntary capacity, demonstrated excellent citizenship, or has committed a one-off act of heroism, selflessness or bravery.

The winner of the award will be presented with an engraved cup at the Annual Town Meeting being held on Wednesday 10th April at the Hailsham Civic Community Hall.

Town Mayor Councillor Nigel Coltman said; “This award is a fantastic way to commend and celebrate all those individuals who selflessly work throughout the year to help others in the community.”

“These hard-working volunteers are an inspiration to others and demonstrate how so much can be achieved when a community pulls together to help one another. Such individuals are the sort of people who – often quietly – make their contribution within the town and benefiting others.”

“For this reason, I believe it is fitting that we pay tribute to our unsung heroes, their achievements and the role they play in helping to make our town a great place to live, learn and work.”

To nominate someone you know, then simply download a nomination form from the council website here, or visit their reception in Market Street for a printed version. Deadline for nominations is March 22nd 2019.
