Officers from the National Crime Agency discovered a large number of handguns and ammunition in what they believe was a firearms factory in the town.
Following the raid in the unit on Diplocks Way in Hailsham on Saturday, more than 30 handguns and a ‘significant’ amount of ammunition was seized.
Three men have appeared in court and all been charged with firearms offences.
A spokesperson from the NCA said; “We have found a range of machinery and components used in the criminal manufacture of firearms and ammunition from scratch.
We have found what we suspect are a number of handguns in various stages of production, as well as templates and metal for use in their manufacture.
Those are now being analysed by forensic experts to determine what category of firearm they fit into.”
