Teenage racer appeals for sponsors

At just 15 years old, William Martin from Hailsham has already won an array of trophies and medals in the first two years of his racing career.

William started karting 7 years ago, winning many trophies at Lydd Kart Track, then he moved up into the Biralart Championship winning first year rookie and coming 6th overall, then 8th in his second year. Through this he was entered into the Ginetta Junior scholarship to win a year’s racing. Both times he came runner up in the Top 6.

He has received a sponsorship from EST Performance, who are based in Hailsham, as well as giving him a part time job, which allows him to earn money whilst he continues in the hobby which he loves.

However, William is in need of further sponsorship as his car requires constant upkeep which can take great expense.

He told Hailsham News and Talk; “I’m looking for serious sponsorship to support me in my racing career and further my progression in the ginetta juniors for the end of this season and next year. I’m a privateer and the team is just me, my Dad and my sponsors, so please help us as we’re up against the larger and well-funded teams and I need the extra sponsors to help my progression.”

The G40 Junior is the ideal first step for young drivers looking to graduate from karting into car racing. It has become one of the most well-known models on the British Touring Car Championship support bill.
